Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a fully remote role. The position requires deep expertise in quantum mechanics, cryptography, and PQC strategy, with leadership in migration planning and risk communication to senior management.

The candidate will work within a Federal Government client environment, supporting cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards and policy inputs, while traveling as needed and maintaining U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography in large orgs or government.
• Strong background in quantum mechanics, algorithms and information theory.
• Experience with PQC and NIST standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms with Python, C++, and Java.
• Advise on migration plans for quantum resistant algorithms and PQC.
• Assess cryptographic inventory and migration priorities.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization per NIST PQC standards.
