Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a Federal Government client. This 100% remote full-time role requires deep expertise in quantum computing, cryptography, and policy inputs aligned with NIST PQC standards.

The position demands 10+ years IT experience, 5+ years in quantum cryptography, U.S. Citizenship, and the ability to communicate risk to non-technical leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with 5+ years in quantum computing/cryptography at a large org.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms (Shor's, Grover), and information theory.
• Experience with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, MS Quantum Development Kit).
• Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography and standardization (NIST PQC, FIPS).
• Familiarity with cryptographic standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790).
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms.
• Advise on migration plans for quantum resistant algorithms and PQC implementations.
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203–205).
• Occasional travel may be required.
