Job summary

Syms Strategic Group is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% U.S.-based remote role. The position requires 10+ years IT with 5+ in quantum cryptography, full-time commitment, and U.S. citizenship for a federal government client.

The candidate will implement cryptographic algorithms in Python/C++, advise on PQC migration, align modernization with NIST standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate quantum risk.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with 5+ years in quantum computing and cryptography in a large org or government agency
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory
• Experience with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, MS Quantum Development Kit)
• Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography and PQC standards (NIST)
• Familiarity with cryptographic standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790)
• Experience with classical and quantum simulation tools
• Project management experience in large orgs or government.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java
• Advise on migration plans for quantum-resistant algorithms and PQC implementation
• Assess cryptographic inventory and define migration priorities
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Provide guidance on cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards
