Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer to support a federal government client in a 100% U.S.-based remote role. The position requires deep expertise in quantum mechanics, post-quantum cryptography, and leading cryptographic modernization efforts.

You will implement cryptographic algorithms in Python/C++, advise on PQC migrations, assess inventories, and communicate quantum risks to senior leadership, while ensuring compliance with NIST standards.

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years IT experience with 5+ years in quantum computing/cryptography at large orgs or government agencies similar to GSA/IRS/DoD/VA
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory
• Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography and standard cryptographic frameworks (NIST/ISO)
• Experience with classical and quantum simulation tools
• Mastery of communicating quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for Public Trust level 4 security clearance

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms
• Advise on migration plans for quantum-resistant algorithms and PQC implementation strategies
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explain quantum risk to leadership
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203, 204, 205)
