Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team remotely, preferably within the Central or Eastern time zones. You will support project cost accounting and reporting with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.

In this role, you will liaise with operations and corporate accounting, manage project budgets, invoicing, and collections, and contribute to audits and management reporting. A strong GAAP background and full-cycle AP exposure are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience required.
• CMA or CPA certification preferred but not required.
• 7+ years of corporate project accounting experience preferred.
• Prior project accounting experience within the architecture, engineering, and/or construction industry preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
• Knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint preferred, experience with an ERP system required.
• Must have AP full cycle exposure.
• Previous experience with mergers and acquisitions a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project cost accounting and reporting.
• Act as a liaison between operations and corporate accounting functions.
• Aid in review and analysis of key performance metrics to support operations management and identify continuous improvement processes.
• Identify, research, and resolve project issues.
• Reconcile and analyze project cost reports for timely reporting.
• Assist Regional Controller with account reports and collections.
• Coordinate project billers and managers to ensure accurate project setups and adherence to procedures.
• Update client and consultant budgets, scope, pricing, change orders, and provide evaluation and reporting.
• Assist in tracking project and business operating performance.
• Support project set‑up for new projects.
• Aid in monthly invoicing process for projects.
• Review vendor and subcontractor invoices process.
• Contact customers concerning past due balances and collect up to 90 days after invoice date.
• Assist Senior Account Manager in collections after 90 days.
• Prepare accounts with outstanding balances for escalation to Controller/GC.
• Assist with management reporting schedules related to collections and A/R.
• Prepare draft correspondence on collections and receivables issues.
• Assist with annual financial audit preparation.
