Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life safety across utility-scale energy projects. You will align codes, standards, and client specs, manage EORs and AHJ interactions, and guide design from conception to commissioning.

This role is fully remote with travel up to 25% and requires 10+ years in fire protection engineering, a bachelor's degree, and a PE license preferred. You will drive safety, quality, and efficient project delivery across diverse teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience with energy infrastructure exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
• P.E. license preferred for leadership in design approvals and compliance.
• Strong ability to engage AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials for approvals and permitting.
• Deep knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL 855, and related codes and practices.
• Proven track record managing external consultants and multi-discipline teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Develop company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code committees and coordinate with EORs and vendors.
• Interface with AHJs, insurers, and engineers; travel to in-person meetings as required.
• Oversee BESS fire protection system scope, budgets, and deliverables.
• QA/QC of third-party work to ensure compliance with SOLV and client requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical and SCADA teams for design consistency.
• Lead Owners engagement on fire protection strategy and design decisions.
• Provide technical training to SOLV team as needed.
