Job summary

Speechify is hiring a backend engineer to design and maintain APIs powering our text-to-speech platform. You’ll work in a fast-paced, async environment with a focus on scalable, reliable services including payments, analytics, subscriptions, and TTS APIs.

The ideal candidate has strong TS/Node experience, cloud skills (GCP, AWS/Azure), and familiarity with container deployments (Docker, Kubernetes). You’ll join a distributed global team shipping fast to change how people learn.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS/Azure.
• Familiarity with Docker and containers is preferred.
• Experience deploying high availability apps on Kubernetes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API and internal APIs (Payment, Subscription, Auth, Consumption Tracking).
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, optimizing performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate on enterprise solutions, focusing on customization and integration for B2B clients.
• Work with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience.
