Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust APIs (public TTS, payments, subscriptions) for a 100% distributed team. You will help align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience.

The ideal candidate has proven TS/Node backend experience, cloud familiarity (GCP, AWS/Azure), and comfort with Docker and Kubernetes to deliver high-availability services at scale in a fast-paced environment that helps users with learning differences.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS/Azure.
• Efficient ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks by urgency and impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs (public TTS API, internal Payment, Subscription, Auth, Usage) to meet business and scalability needs.
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, optimize performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate on enterprise client integrations and B2B solutions with cross-functional teams.
• Align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience.
