Job summary

Value-Based RCM, Inc. is seeking a Patient Account Specialist to manage inbound and outbound calls related to patient accounts while delivering high levels of patient satisfaction.

The role emphasizes HIPAA compliance and accurate handling of PHI. Responsibilities include assisting patients via phone, email, or online chat, explaining charges and insurance details, coordinating with internal departments, and identifying opportunities to improve processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Healthcare customer service experience required.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, including active listening.
• Working knowledge of EOBs, CPT and DX codes.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI guidelines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients via phone, email, or online chat to provide support and information on their account or upcoming procedures.
• Use, protect, and disclose patient PHI in accordance with HIPAA standards.
• Coordinate with VBRCM departments to ensure patient requests are handled promptly and appropriately.
• Assist patients with inquiries regarding their account, charges, and insurance details.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and services within the department.
• Maintain a strong knowledge of client processes and support team through reliable attendance.
