Job summary

Stormont-Vail HealthCare, Inc. is seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to ensure efficient processing of patient accounts, registration, and final third‑party payment resolution after initial bill submission.

You will work with billing, insurance verifications, and rebilling when necessary, maintaining HIPAA compliance and providing courteous service in a busy healthcare finance setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare financial services, patient registration, scheduling, or claims processing experience in the liability insurance field.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to exhibit patience.
• Detailed knowledge of major third-party billing and contracts.
• Working knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic Algebra.

Responsibilities

• Process patient accounts from uploading into the clearinghouse application through final claim submission, both manual and electronic.
• Resolve remaining bill edit failures, claim submission, receipt reconciliation and rebilling when necessary.
• Collect, validate, and update patient data, perform electronic insurance verifications, and address managed care issues.
• Identify and report customer service issues and assist in process improvements.
• Distribute and prepare reports; handle refunds, cash transfers and unidentified payments.
• Post payments and adjustments and balance all entries per payer procedures.
• Answer questions from staff by phone or e‑mail and document activities in the system.
• Analyze insurance correspondence for unpaid claims and verify insurance information.
