Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Patient Health Benefits Counselor for a 100% remote PRN role. You will verify coverage, determine patient qualification for programs, and coordinate authorizations and payments.

You will liaise with physicians, clinics, and billing teams to support accurate benefit estimation and eligibility checks. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication to counsel patients and collect payments while navigating insurance

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six months healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Medical terminology with good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Document electronically on account information in a timely manner.
• Screen self-pay patients for CICP, charity programs or payment arrangements.
• Obtain pre-certification and benefits from insurance for admissions.
• Serve as hospital liaison between insurers, case managers, and billing/eligibility entities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of registration pathways.
• Collect patient portion as determined by insurance.
