Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to guide patients through their financial responsibilities during care. You will work with admissions, billing, and clinical teams to ensure accurate financial planning and documentation, while resolving payment concerns.

Responsibilities include educating patients on co-insurance, deductibles, and fees, tracking payments, and maintaining records in KIPU/EHR.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in healthcare finance, billing, or a similar patient‑facing financial role.
• Proficiency with financial systems and software such as KIPU and Salesforce.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on financial obligations including co-insurance, deductibles, and fees related to care levels.
• Review verification of benefits (VOB) and patient responsibilities and answer billing inquiries.
• Track and manage recurring patient payments; issue invoices and receipts.
• Maintain a detailed calendar of payment schedules and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Resolve declined transactions and assist patients with payment arrangements.
• Prepare financial paperwork for admissions and ongoing care programs; manage records in KIPU/EHR.
• Share financial information with third‑party vendors such as pharmacies or service providers.
• Collaborate with billing and internal teams to resolve issues and keep Salesforce/KIPU data current.
