Summa Health is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to serve as the primary contact for patient reimbursement issues. You will verify benefits, eligibility, and establish payment plans while coordinating with insurers to avoid denials and ensure accurate authorization information.

The role requires strong communication, confidentiality, and analytical skills to support uninsured, underinsured and insured patients. Positive patient relations and teamwork are essential in this environment.

Qualifications

• Formal Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post high school coursework in business, finance, healthcare or related field preferred.
• Three years experience in medical insurance verification and financial counseling in a hospital setting.
• Two years customer service experience; patient advocacy experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Serve as primary contact for patient reimbursement issues following policies.
• Verify patient benefits and eligibility; establish payment plans and financial arrangements.
• Screen for Medicaid eligibility and determine qualification for financial assistance programs.
• Collaborate with insurance companies to avoid payment denials and ensure accurate authorization information.
