Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking an administrative assitant to support patient check-in, registration and front desk duties in a fast-paced hospital environment.

You will collect demographics, insurance information, and signatures, verify patient identity, and explain payment options. The role requires adherence to HIPAA and privacy standards, strong customer service, and effective collaboration with nursing and allied health teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HIPAA, patient rights and Medicare guidelines preferred.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors and Stormont Vail associates.
• Familiarity with basic medical terminology desirable.

Responsibilities

• Register patients including demographics, insurance, visit information and signatures.
• Complete check-in and admission functions and verify patient identity.
• Discuss finances, provide patient estimates and collect payments including copays.
• Assist with documentation and data entry across service areas.
• Schedule follow-up appointments and provide required handouts.
• Perform eligibility verification and handle department duties such as referrals and RiteFax.
• Respond to phones and maintain confidentiality as required by law and Stormont Vail policies.
