Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking an Associate Patient Access Representative (APAR) to be the first contact for visitors, handling patient registration, financial clearance and scheduling. This role supports front-office and back-office functions across the network to prepare patients administratively and financially for visits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years in a healthcare office setting with strong customer service background preferred.
• Registration/Admissions: proficient in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency admits.
• Completes Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers in a timely manner when applicable.
• Ability to monitor and perform patient hospital and ambulatory movement.
• Uses EPIC work queue to pre-register scheduled patients.
• Verifies medical necessity per CMS standards and communicates coverage information to patient.
• Accurately identifies and enters patient demographics, insurance, and financial information.
• Gathers and verifies confidential health and financial information to assure payment for services.
• Confirms the completeness of the electronic health record (EHR) and makes necessary changes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first contact for visitors, handling customer service, patient registration, and financial clearance.
• Manage check-ins, scheduling, and payments in a timely, accurate manner.
• Verify insurance coverage and medical necessity per CMS guidelines.
