Pirate Ship is a remote-first ecommerce shipping company seeking a Paralegal to assist the General Counsel with contracts, IP, compliance, and governance. The role blends administrative and legal tasks in a fast-paced, creative environment where ideas are welcomed and collaboration is key.

Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing contracts, researching regulatory matters, managing IP portfolio activities, maintaining governance records, and coordinating with outside counsel.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a technology company or law firm.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and review.
• Travel domestically for periodic business meetings.

Responsibilities

• Keep Our Documents Shipshape: assist in preparing, reviewing, and revising contracts and other legal documents; maintain organized document management for timely compliance.
• Scout the Legal Horizon: conduct extensive legal research on regulatory compliance, IP, and commercial law; monitor legislative changes.
• Help Safeguard Our Treasure: manage the company’s IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents; coordinate with external counsel on registrations, renewals, and enforcement.
• Keep Our Governance on Course: assist in corporate governance, prepare meeting documents, maintain records, and support policy development and training.
• Support the Rules of the Seas: organize documents, coordinate cross-functionally and with outside counsel; provide general admin support to the General Counsel.
• Paralegal will travel domestically for periodic meetings.
