Job summary

Pirate Ship is seeking a Paralegal (First Mate of Legal Affairs) to join our remote-first crew. You will support the General Counsel in contracts, IP management, compliance, and corporate governance in a fast-paced tech environment.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a technology company or law firm.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and review.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and legal research tools and project management tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Maintain an organized document management system to ensure timely compliance with legal obligations and deadlines.
• Conduct extensive legal research and analysis on regulatory compliance, IP, and commercial law; monitor legislative changes.
• Assist in managing the company’s IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents; coordinate with external counsel.
• Assist in corporate governance matters, prepare documents for meetings, maintain corporate records, and support governance policies and training programs.
• Provide administrative support to the General Counsel, schedule meetings, maintain legal files, and handle correspondence.
• Travel domestically on periodic business meetings.
