Job summary

Pirate Ship, a remote-first company, is seeking a Paralegal to support the General Counsel in managing all legal matters for the tech business. The role includes contract drafting/review, IP management, compliance, and corporate governance in a fast-paced environment.

The Paralegal will travel domestically for periodic meetings and work from home with company-provided equipment. You’ll join a casual, creative crew that values ideas and progress while supporting a fun culture.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a technology company or law firm, with exposure to intellectual property, contracts, and corporate law.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and review.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and legal research tools and project management tools.
• Paralegal will be required to travel domestically on periodic business meetings.

Responsibilities

• Keep Our Documents Shipshape: Assist in preparing, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and other legal documents. Maintain an organized and up-to-date document management system to ensure timely compliance with legal obligations and deadlines.
• Scout the Legal Horizon: Conduct extensive legal research and analysis on various topics, such as regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and commercial law.
• Help Safeguard Our Treasure: Assist in managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Keep Our Governance on Course: Assist in corporate governance matters, including preparing documents for meetings, maintaining corporate records, and ensuring compliance with governance policies and procedures.
• Support the Rules of the Seas: Provide support by organizing documents and coordinating cross-functionally and with outside counsel; scheduling meetings and maintaining legal files.
