Job summary

Pirate Ship is seeking a Paralegal to join our remote-first legal crew. You’ll support the General Counsel with contract drafting, IP management, compliance, and governance in a fast-paced, creative setting.

Domestically travel will be required, and you can work from home while collaborating with the crew through chat, voice, and video. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in paralegal roles in tech or law firms, strong research and drafting skills, and proficiency with Office tools and PM platforms.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a technology company or law firm, with exposure to IP, contracts, and corporate law.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in legal document drafting and reviewing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and legal research tools and project management tools.
• Paralegal will be required to travel domestically on periodic business meetings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and revise contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Maintain an organized document management system to ensure timely compliance with legal obligations and deadlines.
• Conduct extensive legal research and analysis on regulatory compliance, IP, and commercial law.
• Keep abreast of legislative changes affecting the company and its operations.
• Assist in managing the company’s IP portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Work with external counsel and internal stakeholders on IP matters such as registrations, renewals, and enforcement actions.
• Assist in corporate governance matters, including meeting documents and maintaining records.
• Support compliance efforts by developing and maintaining policies and training programs.
• Provide administrative support to General Counsel and coordinate cross-functionally with outside counsel.
• Paralegal travel domestically on periodic business meetings.
• Work from home and connect with the crew via chat, voice, and video.
