Job summary

Avem Business Solutions seeks an experienced Outpatient Coder to code Emergency Department, Ambulatory Surgery, and related outpatient records. The role requires precision, timely chart abstraction, and effective physician queries to ensure compliant coding and reimbursement.

The ideal candidate will have RHIT or AHIMA/AAPC certification, 2+ years of coding experience, and strong ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT knowledge. Work from home in Oklahoma City with standard day shift responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Must hold an HIM credential (RHIT) or a Coding Certification from AHIMA or the AAPC.
• Coding Certification from AHIMA or the AAPC preferred.
• 2 years of coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding rules and conventions.
• Solid medical terminology, anatomy and physiology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Achieve 95% accuracy across all coded chart types.
• Code ED, outpatient surgery, observation, and diagnostic accounts with productivity targets.
• Ensure valid orders for outpatient surgery and diagnostic accounts.
• Query physicians to clarify missing or conflicting documentation.
• Abstract information accurately into the coding system and post charges as required.
