Job summary

Optum is seeking an Outpatient Medical Coder Edits to accurately assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for same day surgeries, trauma ER, observations, and complex cases. This remote role supports providers with feedback and adheres to coding policies and guidelines.

Requirements include AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 2+ years outpatient facility coding and expert CPT/ICD-10-CM skills. The position offers full-time hours with flexible 8-hour shifts across the U.S.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience across all chart types (same day surgery, ED, observation).
• 1+ years of experience with LCD/NCD, Medical Necessity, Modifiers, OCE/NCCI.
• Expert CPT and ICD-10-CM coding proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT and ICD-10 code assignments for outpatient services per policy.
• Analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity accounts.
• Provide documentation feedback to physicians and query when needed.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager and Director of Coding/Quality Management.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
