Job summary

Avem Health Partners is seeking an Outpatient Coder with Emergency Department and Ambulatory Surgery coding experience. The coder will code Surgery, Emergency department, and Ancillary records with high accuracy and efficiency.

The role requires 2+ years of coding experience and RHIT or AHIMA/AAPC certification. You will query physicians when needed and ensure timely reimbursement while maintaining documentation quality.

Qualifications

• Must hold an HIM credential (RHIT) or coding certification from AHIMA or the AAPC.
• 2 years of coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding rules and conventions.
• Firm knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain data quality with 95%+ accuracy as audited.
• Code 12-15 ED records per hour, 7 outpatient surgery records per hour, 7 observation per hour, 25-30 outpatient diagnostic accounts per hour.
• Ensure valid orders for outpatient procedures and diagnostics.
• Query physicians to clarify missing or conflicting documentation.
• Abstract information from records into the abstracting module and post charges as required.
