Qualifications

• AHIMA/AA PC credentials or AAPC credentials required.
• Experience in Interventional Radiology is required.
• 2+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting.
• Proficiency with Same Day Surgery and Observation coding, injections/infusions.
• Proficiency with Ancillary, ED, injections/infusions, and E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication, remote work aptitude, and time management.
• Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Annual HIPAA exam and related testing required.
• Experience in interventional radiology coding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Assign appropriate discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and APC assignment accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant health-sponsored education meetings.
• Demonstrate initiative and judgment in responsibilities.
• Communicate with staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Maintain professional, efficient, and positive conduct.
• Adhere to AHIMA code of ethics.
