Job summary

Datavant, the data collaboration platform trusted for healthcare, is seeking experienced outpatient coders for a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, validate CPT codes for precertification, and support accurate hospital coding across specialties including surgery, orthopedics, neuro, and interventional radiology.

AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 2+ years hospital coding experience, and EPIC/Solventum familiarity are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hospital coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% APC assignment accuracy.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.
• Demonstrate initiative and judgment in job responsibilities.
• Communicate with coworkers, management, and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Adhere to AHIMA's code of ethics.
• Be customer-service focused and dependable.
• Handle a high complexity of work function and decision-making.
• Possess strong organizational and teamwork skills.
• Comply with HIM Division Policies.
