Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders for a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. Earn a $1500 sign-on bonus and help shape the future of healthcare data coding from your home workspace.

Responsibilities include reviewing records, coding diagnoses/procedures, maintaining 95% accuracy, and ensuring proper APC assignments. Requires AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 3+ years hospital coding, and strong communication skills. Remote work, healthcare focus, ongoing education supported.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC) required.
• 3+ years hospital coding experience in a hospital and/or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency with most or all of these coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions).
• Proficiency with most or all of these coding specialties (Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, adeptness in remote work, and exceptional time management skills.
• Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Annual HIPAA exam and testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes accurately based on medical record documentation.
• Assign discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting requirements.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues for follow-up.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and 95% APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings.
• Demonstrate initiative and judgment in duties.
• Communicate with staff about clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Adhere to HIM policies and code of ethics.
