Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders for a fully remote, flexible schedule. The role emphasizes thorough knowledge of medical terminology and meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate diagnoses and procedures coding.

AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC) and 3+ years hospital coding experience are required, with proficiency in Same Day Surgery, Observation, and Injections/Infusions.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required.
• 3+ years hospital coding experience.
• Proficiency with Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling.
• Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work remotely.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software; HIPAA knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation and discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for reporting requirements.
• Communicate coding issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored meetings and training.
• Adhere to AHIMA code of ethics and professional standards.
