Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders to join our healthcare data platform. This fully remote role emphasizes accuracy in diagnosis and procedure coding, adherence to HIPAA and ethics, and collaboration with hospital staff to improve data quality.

The ideal candidate has AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 3+ years of hospital coding experience, and strong communication and time management skills. A remote schedule offers flexibility and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC certification required.
• 3+ years of coding experience in hospital or coding consulting role.
• Proficiency with coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions).
• Strong written and verbal communication and time management.
• Experience with remote work and flexible scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign discharge dispositions.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital reporting requirements.
• Communicate coding issues to relevant personnel for follow up.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC assignment accuracy with productivity targets.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.
