Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders to join our fully remote team. You will review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedure codes, and ensure accurate coding to support hospital reporting and reimbursement. A strong attention to detail and AHIMA or AAPC credentials are required.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required (RHIA/RHIT/ CCS or CPC/CPC-H/COC/CRC).
• Minimum 2 years of hospital coding experience.
• Proficient in common coding specialties and HIPAA rules.
• Strong written/verbal communication; able to work remotely.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign diagnoses and procedures.
• Sequence codes based on documentation and discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for reporting requirements.
• Identify coding improvement opportunities and communicate them.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Participate in sponsored education meetings and trainings.
• Collaborate with hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
