Job summary

Datavant, a healthcare data collaboration platform, is seeking experienced outpatient coders for a fully remote role with a flexible schedule. You will review records, assign diagnoses and procedures, and ensure accurate coding and APC assignment while maintaining high productivity and credential upkeep.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 3+ years of hospital coding experience, and proficiency with various coding specialties. Excellent communication and remote-work skills are essential.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC credentials (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC or CRC).
• 3+ years coding experience in hospital or coding consultant role.
• Proficiency with most or all coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions).
• Proficiency with multiple coding areas (Ancillary, ED, Injections/Infusions, E/M leveling).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, remote-work aptitude, and time management.
• Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software.
• Must pass annual HIPAA exam and related testing.
• Experience in computerized encoding and abstracting software.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Assign discharge disposition.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding opportunities and issues to relevant staff.
• Maintain high coding and APC accuracy and meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings and in-services.
• Demonstrate initiative and professional judgment in responsibilities.
• Communicate with colleagues and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement issues.
