Job summary

Datavant is seeking experienced outpatient coders to join our remote team. Review medical records, assign diagnoses and procedures codes, ensure 95% accuracy, and adhere to HIPAA and AHIMA/AAPC standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of hospital coding, AHIMA/RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/CPC-H/CIC/CIC credentials, strong communication, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required
• 3+ years hospital coding experience
• Proficiency in hospital coding specialties (Same Day Surgery, Observation, Injections/Infusions)
• Proficiency in E/M leveling and Ancillary, Emergency Department coding
• Strong written and verbal communication; strong time management for remote work
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software
• Annual HIPAA knowledge testing required
• Remote work experience a must

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign accurate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assign and sequence codes based on documentation.
• Assign discharge dispositions.
• Abstract and enter coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
• Communicate coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow up.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy and 95% APC accuracy; meet productivity standards.
• Track continuing education credits to maintain credentials.
• Attend Datavant Health sponsored education meetings/in-services.
• Communicate with management and hospital staff regarding clinical and reimbursement issues.
• Adhere to HIM ethics and policies.
