Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
• Minimum of 3 years coding experience in outpatient settings.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient records (same-day surgery, observation, ED, clinic, and ancillary).
• Ensure coding aligns with CMS, AHA, AHIMA, and NCCI guidelines.
• Abstract data from clinical documentation into the coding system or EHR.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies.
• Support audits, revenue integrity, and performance improvement efforts.
