Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Hospital Outpatient Coder to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and modifiers for outpatient encounters. The role supports quality reporting and reimbursement while collaborating with CDI and billing teams to close documentation gaps.

Responsibilities include ensuring timely, compliant coding, maintaining credentialing, and meeting productivity standards in a remote-capable environment across eligible states.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPC or COC certification preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and coding guidelines.
• Proficiency with encoder and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Codes outpatient records including ER, same-day medicals and SDSs.
• Meet quality and productivity benchmarks and aid DNFB management.
• Collaborate with CDI, billing and revenue integrity teams.
• Obtain missing documentation from providers to ensure codes are complete.
• Abstract data with high accuracy and maintain compliance with policies.
• Contribute to a collaborative environment and adapt to changing demands.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of outpatient coding changes.
