Job summary

Optum, a UnitedHealth Group company, seeks an Outpatient Coding Specialist to apply ICD-10, CPT and modifiers for facility services from a remote U.S. location. The role requires AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 2+ years in ICD-10, CPT, facility charging, and ER coding.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC.
• 2+ years of ICD-10, CPT, facility charging and modifiers experience.
• 2+ years of Emergency Room coding experience.
• Proficient in Excel and EMR systems.
• Strong attention to detail and communication.

Responsibilities

• Code facility outpatient services using ICD-10, CPT and modifiers per guidelines.
• Adhere to AAPC/AHIMA standards and client guidelines.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity targets.
• Query physicians when needed and stay updated on coding policies.
• Utilize NCCI edits, LCD/NCD policies and HCPCS knowledge.
• Collaborate in a remote work environment and participate in meetings.
