Job summary

Capital Health is seeking an Hospital Outpatient Coder I to accurately assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, CPT/HCPCS procedure codes, and modifiers for outpatient encounters across clinics, diagnostics, and EMS, ensuring compliant coding with timely reimbursement.

The role requires a High School diploma with CPC-A/COC-A certification (CPC/COC preferred), and strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Remote work flexibility is supported.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Experience with encoder and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Codes medical record documentation for outpatient services including Clinic Records, Diagnostic Services and EMS.
• Meets or exceeds established quality and productivity benchmarks.
• Collaborates with CDI, billing, and revenue integrity teams to improve documentation and reimbursement.
• Identifies documentation gaps and escalates for clarification.
• Contacts providers to obtain missing documentation timely to reduce DNFB.
