Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Hospital Outpatient Coder 2 to accurately assign ICD-10-CM codes, CPT/HCPCS procedures, and modifiers for outpatient encounters. This role supports ERs and same-day records with strict adherence to guidelines and payer policies.

The ideal candidate will have CPC or COC certification, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work remotely in a fast-paced hospital setting. 8-hour shifts apply across a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: CPC or COC certification preferred.
• Special Training: ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS knowledge; encoder and EMR experience.

Responsibilities

• Codes outpatient services including ERs, outpatient in a bed, same day medicals and same day surgical records.
• Queries physicians or staff to ensure proper documentation for code assignment.
• Ensure complete, compliant, and timely coding to support reimbursement and integrity.
• Collaborate with CDI, billing, and revenue integrity teams to improve documentation and reduce DNFB.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of outpatient coding changes.
