Job summary

Optum is seeking a Medical Coder to join our team. The role involves coding CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 for various professional charges, working with clinical staff to ensure accurate and compliant coding and maximize revenue. Telecommute option available within the U.S. after training, with schedule around 6am-6pm EST.

Responsibilities include preparing and transmitting claims, resolving coding questions with providers, staying current on payer rules, and meeting productivity and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• CPC, CCS-P, or CPC-A certifications
• 2+ years of physician-based coding experience

Responsibilities

• Codes CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 for office, outpatient, inpatient, surgical and other charges
• Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using electronic and paper processing
• Contacts providers regarding coding issues and seeks clarification
• Ensures codes are accurate and properly sequenced per regulations
• Maintains productivity, quality standards, and deadlines
