Job summary

UnitedHealth Group’s Optum is seeking a skilled outpatient facility coder to join our telecommuting team. You will assign ICD-10, CPT and modifiers for facility services, adhere to coding guidelines, and maintain up-to-date knowledge from QM/Director of Coding.

The role offers full-time hours, remote work across the U.S., competitive hourly pay between $20 and $36, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to grow within a mission-driven health equity organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC
• 2+ years of ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers experience
• 2+ years of acute surgery experience
• Intermediate PC experience in Windows with Excel and EMR
• Attention to detail, accuracy and communication

Responsibilities

• Expert knowledge in facility outpatient coding: Same Day Surgery
• Assign ICD-10, CPT and modifiers per guidelines
• Adhere to AAPC/AHIMA ethical coding standards
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity
• Understand APC codes and Medicare policies
• Query physicians when appropriate
• Stay updated with QM manager guidance and department meetings
• Participate in coding education events
• Additional responsibilities as identified by manager
