Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional medical coder to expertly assign ICD-10 and CPT codes for facility services, including Same Day Surgery, while adhering to official guidelines and client-specific rules.

You will query clinicians as needed, maintain coding quality and productivity, and stay current with Medicare policies and NCCI edits. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is supported for this full-time role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers.
• 2+ years of experience in acute surgery.
• Intermediate level experience with Windows PC, Microsoft Excel, and various EMR systems.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and communication.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate assignment of ICD-10 Codes, CPT and modifiers for facility services following official coding guidelines and client guidelines.
• Adhere to coding ethics per AHIMA and/or AAPC standards.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as directed by QM and Coding leadership.
• Understand APC codes and Medicare policies relevant to facility services.
• Query physicians when appropriate and stay current with coding knowledge.
