Job summary

Pride Health is seeking an Outpatient Coder for a fully remote contract assignment. You will review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, focusing on ambulatory surgery and observation cases, with a target coding accuracy of 95%.

The role supports a healthcare client, offers a 26-week contract, and pays $35–$38 per hour on a W2 basis, based on experience, credentials, and education. Strong independent work and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of current hospital outpatient coding experience.
• Strong experience with ambulatory surgery and observation coding.
• Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4.
• Medical record abstracting experience.
• Certification required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC or current AHIMA CE records.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret patient medical records to assign codes.
• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes based on documentation.
• Code ambulatory surgery and observation visits and special procedures.
• Abstract required information from medical records and enter into the EHR.
• Submit physician queries when documentation is unclear or incomplete.
• Collaborate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Specialists.
• Maintain coding accuracy rate of at least 95%.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and regulatory changes.
