Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Hospital Outpatient Coder 2 to accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters across ER, same day, and ambulatory services.

You'll query physicians to ensure documentation supports coding, maintain high-quality, timely coding, and collaborate with CDI, billing, and revenue integrity teams. This remote-friendly role targets candidates in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Alabama.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: CPC or COC preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Code outpatient medical records for ER, same day records, and outpatient in a bed.
• Meet productivity and quality benchmarks; manage DNFB to reduce uncoded days.
• Collaborate with CDI, billing, and revenue integrity teams.
• Obtain missing documentation from providers to reduce DNFB.
• Abstract data with high accuracy per policy.
• Maintain compliance with coding policies and credentials.
