Job summary

Atlas Tech seeks an Oracle/PeopleSoft Database Administrator to design, implement, and optimize the PeopleSoft database supporting our enterprise HR system. This role is fully remote for US residents and involves AWS RDS, CloudWatch, and cross-region backups.

Responsibilities include monitoring performance, tuning SQL/PLSQL, implementing backup strategies with RMAN, and enforcing security policies. Travel up to 10% is noted. DoD Secret clearance and Security+ CE are required.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and DoD Secret clearance required.
• Bachelor''s degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• Security+ CE certification or equivalent.
• 5+ years as an Oracle DBA with strong Oracle architecture knowledge.
• Proficiency in SQL/PLSQL and scripting (Bash or Python).
• Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade Oracle DB software across AWS RDS environments.
• Monitor performance, SQL tuning, and resource optimization for PeopleSoft.
• Ensure availability, integrity, and reliability with automated monitoring and health checks.
• Develop and implement robust backup strategies using RMAN and cross-region backups.
• Enforce database security policies, including access, encryption, auditing, and reporting.
• Troubleshoot slow queries, locks, and cross-tier performance bottlenecks.
• Create and maintain runbooks, architecture docs, and process manuals.
• Automate tasks using shell scripting, Python, SQL automation, Lambda, and Step Functions.
• Support migrations/upgrades across on-prem/cloud, including PeopleTools upgrades.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and HA/DR architectures for mission-critical systems.
