Job summary

Visionworks of America seeks a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite or remote exams and performing pre-exam tests. You will liaise between patients and optometrists, guiding them through the initial steps of their journey.

Part-time role with responsibilities including EMR data entry, assisting doctors, explaining testing steps, coordinating scheduling, and maintaining accurate records while complying with HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience in optical/healthcare is preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills required.
• Ability to document patient data accurately in EMR and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect medical history and ocular health information into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctors, explain preliminary testing steps, and document results.
• Support remote exams, including pre-testing, video conferencing, and documentation.
• Transition patients to retail staff after exams and explain doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance and manage exam scheduling with no-show/cancellation follow-up.
• Maintain a clean, compliant, and organized clinical environment.
