Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking a part-time Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to ensure a great patient experience by preparing patients for onsite or remote examinations and completing pre-exam tests. You will liaise between patients and Optometrists and participate in initial steps of the patient journey.

The role requires familiarity with EMR, insurance preauthorization, and strong customer service skills. Training is provided; hours are flexible to cover store needs.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience.
• Optical or healthcare background preferred.
• Medical office professionalism.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Training provided.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and gather information and document in EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with eye examinations and explain testing steps.
• Explain remote examination steps and coordinate remote sessions.
• Transition patients to retail staff with recommendations.
• Understand MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance.
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books.
• Maintain patient flow and answer clinical questions.
