Job summary

Texas State University’s TXST Online department seeks an Online Student Success Specialist to support online learners through advising, coaching, and exceptional customer service from a remote, full-time role. Strong communication, scheduling, and teamwork across campus are essential.

You will engage students by email, phone, and web conferencing, guiding degree planning and connecting them with campus resources to help online program persistence and success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Customer service experience and mindset.
• Experience working with online learners via email, phone, and video conferencing.
• Strong communication, detailed notetaking, active listening, rapport-building and confidentiality.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in varying day-to-day duties.
• Experience in high-volume settings with problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
• Ability to collaborate across campus to resolve student concerns.
• Desire for ongoing professional development and TXST Online growth.

Responsibilities

• Engage online students via email, phone, and web conferencing.
• Provide generalist academic advising for online majors including degree planning and course selection.
• Explain complex policies and information clearly to students.
• Connect students to college resources and provide referrals as needed.
• Provide basic success coaching and monitor student progress.
• Identify student concerns and advocate for solutions with stakeholders.
• Conduct outreach to promote engagement and completion.
• Maintain accurate, confidential student records per FERPA.
• Stay updated on curriculum and admissions criteria for online programs.
• Pursue ongoing professional development in online learning practices.
• Collaborate with departments across campus and contribute as a team member.
