Job summary

Actalent seeks a Medical Support Assistant to support VA Rocky Mountain Network in a 100% remote contract role from Aurora, CO. You will schedule patient appointments, process referrals, manage EMR records, and deliver compassionate customer service to Veterans.

Ideal candidates have healthcare administration or patient access experience, strong data entry and typing skills, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, and knowledge of HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 6 months of customer service experience.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• Typing speed of 50+ words per minute.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments per VA guidelines.
• Process, review, and track electronic consults and provider orders.
• Coordinate community care referrals using VA systems.
• Answer calls and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist Veterans with questions and connect them with appropriate care teams.
• Verify and update patient demographic information.
• Support patient flow and administrative functions.
• Assist PACT with daily administrative tasks.
• Maintain documentation in EMR systems.
• Ensure HIPAA, privacy, and security compliance.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, and staff to support quality care.
