Job summary

Signature Performance is seeking an experienced Medical Coder (Surgery/Anesthesia) for a remote position. The ideal candidate will proficiently apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT and HCPCS codes from diverse medical records and documentation.

You will review records, assign accurate diagnoses and procedures, and ensure coding compliance with guidelines and payer rules while supporting timely billing and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Coding experience.
• Experience with Professional Fee Coding.
• Experience with EHR systems.
• Accepted AHIMA or AAPC certifications (RHIT/RHIA/CCA/CCS/CCS-P/CPC).

Responsibilities

• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures by reviewing documentation and coding guidelines.
• Review discharge summaries, notes, radiology, labs and operative reports to assign codes.
• Ensure correct code selection and compliance with CMS and payer requirements.
• Abstract medical data and enter into the system, correcting errors as needed.
• Identify missing or conflicting documentation and query physicians when needed.
