Job summary

Signature Performance is seeking a Medical Coder specializing in Surgery/Anesthesia to join our remote team nationwide. The role emphasizes accurate E/M coding using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS codes, and related documentation.

You will assign diagnoses and procedures, review records, ensure compliant coding, and support accurate reimbursement through proper DRG/APC classification. Strong coding experience and relevant certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Coding experience required.
• Experience with Professional Fee Coding.
• Experience with EHR systems.
• Accepted certifications from AHIMA or AAPC include RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC.

Responsibilities

• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures by reviewing documentation.
• Review discharge summaries, progress notes, radiology, labs, operative records to assign codes.
• Ensure correct code selection following guidelines and regulations.
• Sequence diagnoses/procedures by clinical significance for the appropriate DRG/APC.
• Abstract medical data from records and enter into the system, correcting errors as needed.
• Identify missing documentation and formulate physician queries to complete coding.
