Job summary

Sciolex Corporation, a defense contractor, seeks a Medical Coder to perform remote medical record coding in support of the Veterans Health Administration. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient coding, audits, and adherence to HIPAA and VA requirements.

The role requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 6–8 years of coding experience, and the ability to access VA systems. Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Competitive compensation offered.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and interpret health record documentation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient admissions, ambulatory surgery, outpatient encounters (incl. ancillary, prosthetics).
• Code inpatient professional services and non-VA care; conduct limited audits/validation reviews.
• Comply with HIPAA and VA privacy requirements; use VA systems for coding.
• Apply current coding guidelines and use VA encoder/EHR systems.
• Recognize unlisted codes as required and follow NCCI guidelines.
