Job summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a Medical Coder to support the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center from a remote location. You will code inpatient, outpatient, and observation encounters in line with VA guidelines, ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS with a target accuracy of 95% or higher.

The role requires VA coding knowledge, active credentials, and the ability to securely access veteran records in Cerner/Oracle. Strong attention to detail and adherence to policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Active coding credential required (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent).
• Prior VA or federal healthcare coding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of VA-specific coding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain coding accuracy 95%+ across all record types.
• Code diagnoses and procedures to the highest specificity.
• Complete provider queries timely and compliantly.
• Meet coding productivity standards by record type.
• Link documents to veteran records in Cerner/Oracle; report mismatches.
