Job summary

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a level 2 coder to support the Enterprise Coding Department in coding physician fees. Requires experience in coding and certification with AAPC or AHIMA.

The role involves coding services using CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS within EPIC, ensuring CMS/OMAP compliance, and collaborating with supervisors to improve billing processes. Telecommuting position with core hours and departmental training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of hospital or professional services experience reviewing, abstracting, and coding medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.
• Certification in one of the following coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA: RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC; equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation to assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for professional charges.
• Establish and maintain coding/billing procedures for the department and mentor staff.
• Monitor activity for CMS and OMOP/OMAP compliance and regulatory changes.
• Coordinate billing information to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Communicate coding issues with supervisors and team leads.
